Adjustment to Parenthood

two mothers with baby

Preparing for pregnancy and birth is great. And we also need to prepare for the transition to parenthood. It’s hard to know what it’s going to feel like and be like until you’re there. However, with a bit of preparation beforehand, the transition can go more smoothly.

There are some things “they” don’t tell you before becoming a parent.

It changes you in ways that you cant’ imagine, but ends up being great if you can grow with it.

It’s challenging to go from having all of your own time, to needing to care for a baby 24/7.

You’re going to be sleep-deprived and that may impact your mood or mental wellbeing.

You may all of the sudden be dealing with your own childhood memories.

On the positive side –

You can experience deep connection to you baby.

Your mind expands and can see the world through a new perspective.
